More natural gas for Europe. WINGAS took a look back over the past year and cast a glance towards the future at its Annual Press Event. Following on from past conferences in Amsterdam, Moscow, Frankfurt/Main and Düsseldorf, this year WINGAS hosted its conference in Brussels. The event was held on Wednesday, 16th June 2010 in Belgium´s capital.

The fifteenth EU-Russia Forum entitled ‘Reciprocity in the modernization partnership Russia – EU’ was held on 17th June 2010. Two high-ranking expert panels discussed the prospects for European-Russian cooperation after the EU-Russia Summit in Rostov-on-Don and bilateral summits between Germany-Russia and France-Russia.

WINGAS achieved record sales in 2008 and is planning to invest billions in delivering a secure energy supply for Germany and Europe.

Thanks to the cooperation agreement signed between the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg as well as WINGAS and OPAL NEL TRANSPORT GmbH, which belongs to the WINGAS Group, students from the university will also benefit from the construction of the pipeline, which will run just a few kilometers away from Freiberg towards the Czech Republic.

The German energy sector can make a vital contribution to overcoming the emerging economic crisis by making investments worth billions of euros.
“We can be a stable pillar of the German economy even in stormy times. We are ready to make massive investments in the gas infrastructure and can make a substantial contribution to tackling the crisis”, WINGAS Chairman Dr. Rainer Seele announced at an energy congress in Berlin on 22 January 2009.

From the opening of the Central Europe's second largest gas storage facility at Haidach in Austria to market successes in Belgium - 2007 was a very successful year for the German-Russian joint venture, WINGAS. It was made quite clear at the international “EU-Russia Energy Dialog: Perspectives in the Gas Industry” conference on 20 May 2008 in Berlin that Europe will become even more dependent on natural gas imports for its energy supply in the future. Clear and transparent conditions must therefore be established, as explicitly pointed out by all conference participants in their speeches.
